Our Church History

Bole Hohite Birhan Kidist Mariam Cathedral Sunday School began with a small group of dedicated individuals. Today, we are a vibrant community of over 10 departments, serving children, youth, and families through spiritual education, charity, and creative programs

SERVICES

Our Sunday School offers spiritual education and creative programs for children and youth. We teach Orthodox faith, hymns, and theology, support church activities, encourage artistic expression, and work closely with parents to build a strong and faithful community.

Children’s Spiritual Education

We provide age-appropriate spiritual education for children aged 4 to 17. This includes Bible stories, prayers, and teachings that help lay a strong foundation in the Orthodox faith through engaging and interactive sessions.

Youth Course Studies

For youth above 17, we offer deeper teachings such as Kedamaye Kalaye, exploring theology, scripture interpretation, and the Orthodox tradition. These sessions aim to guide young people toward becoming spiritually mature and responsible Christians.

Mezmur (Spiritual Hymn) Training

Children and youth are taught traditional Orthodox hymns (Mezmure Agegelote and Mezmure Tenate), helping them participate in liturgical services and understand the spiritual depth behind the songs.

Church Service & Volunteering

We encourage students to actively serve the church through various volunteer activities. This includes cleaning, arranging seating, assisting in events, and participating in church celebrations under adult supervision .

Spiritual Arts & Drawing Program

To nurture creativity and express faith through art, children engage in spiritual drawing classes. This helps visualize biblical stories and Orthodox values while making Sunday School more interactive and enjoyable.

Parental Engagement & Faith Teaching

Through the Parent Committee, we work closely with families to ensure spiritual teachings continue at home. We also educate about other religious doctrines (Hayemanote) to strengthen children's understanding and Orthodox identity.
